Money for nothing censureras

Det är Canadian Broadcast Standards Council som fattat beslutet och gäller bara en radiostation i det nordamerikanska landet, skriver Dagens Nyheter. Men fler kan råka illa ut om de spelar låten ocensurerad.

Bakgrunden är att en lyssnare reagerat efter att ha hört Money for nothing spelas på stationen OZ FM. Lyssnaren upprördes över att Dire Strait använt ordet "faggot" i texten och menade i sin anmälan till Canadian Broadcast Standards Council att det var ett nedsättande uttryck för homosexuella.

Rådet hade förståelse för att ordet användes sarkastiskt och att det var acceptabelt att yttra för 25 år sedan. Däremot ansågs "faggot" vara olämpligt att yttra i radion i dag.

- Beslutet rör inte Dire Straits låt utan har att göra med ordet i fråga, säger rådets ordförande Ron Cohen till TT Reuters.

Den anmälda radiostationens försvar gick ut på att låten vunnit priset, spelats många gånger de senaste åren och fortfarande är populär. Men argumenten hade ingen framgång.

Ett hotell är ett gammalt önskemål från kommunala Älvstranden Utveckling, för att ytterligare sätta fart på tillväxten i Lindholmen Science Park, där ju även storföretaget Ericsson har sin anläggning i Göteborg. Nu tillförs 266 rum i en hotellbyggn...
